The first pair of QuackBacks were created as a birthday gift to support a dear friend, nothing more.

Literally, a pair of white cotton hipsters, a wild Mallard screen print, and a zany idea that some undercover encouragement would help her remember when she needed to “be a duck”. Having to work with trying people afforded numerous occasions to overlook both real and imagined offenses. My hope was that in the moments when she was feeling overwhelmed and tempted to retaliate with harsh words, she would remember her secret duck, know that I was on her side, and have the strength to be the bigger person, letting the hurt “roll off her back”.
Showing the gift to a couple of my sisters, their immediate response was, “We want a pair of duck underwear!” But it was not until I had given the gift and received a couple months worth of phone calls informing me when my friend was wearing the underwear, packing the underwear, or had worn the underwear that the idea for QuackBack began to form.
The wild Mallard has now transformed into our sassy logo, Zivah, the white hipsters have expanded to include an array of styles and colors, and the meanings of each pose have grown to accommodate numerous situations all women walk through.
I have no doubt that our company will continue to evolve, but no matter what the company becomes or no matter how many more changes we go through, the original pair of QuackBacks will remain, a heartfelt representation of where we came from and why we exist.
